My passion for motorsport started in the early 60's watching Jim Clark winning The Gold Cup at Oulton Park, and then hopping into a Lotus Cortina and winning the saloon car race. I started karting in 1967 and decided on a career in motorsport in 1971 joining the McRae [Nee Leda] F5000 team, and then moving on to Surtees and Graham Hill F1 teams before setting up my own garage in Manchester in 1974. During that time I had been racing a Morgan with some success, but business commitments meant I didn't start racing again until 1979, now in MG's. I have raced most things from then to date, including Ford 2000, historic saloons, Iso Rivolta and every imaginable MG, and prepared, tested and set up many others. Outright and class wins now exceed 190 and include 9 championships. In the late 70's my brother Bill joined me in the business and also enjoyed a lot of racing success, in an Austin A35 [Purple Egg Racing] and then in many MG's.

In the 1990's we polarised the business, with Bill concentrating on sales whilst I focussed on the race preparation business, a co-operative arrangement which works very well. We are now able to offer a range of bespoke services for a few select clients including testing, set up, race preparing and transporting cars to race meetings. In addition we offer design and construction, race tuition and of course engine building. Our customers cars and engines have now won more races and championships than we have; well in excess of 400!. Here are some of the Marques we have extensive experience with :- Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Bentley, Bristol, Caterham, Elva, Ferrari, Ford, Innocenti, Iso, Jaguar, Messerschmitt, MG, Morgan, Rolls Royce, Triumph and TVR. Also F5000, F1, F2, Sports cars, Saloons, Sports racing cars, Can Am, and we are currently building some interesting Rolls/Bentley V8's.

Other interests include 'Bubble cars', especially Messerschmitts, but we have also owned Isetta, Trojan, Berkley, Nobel and many others over the years, and of course Bentley. We have recently owned and run, a Turbo R, aT2 and a MKVI special, which is a particularly good replica of a speed 6, with many authentic parts. Even 'Stan the Mann' thought it quite decent! (See customer's cars). So there you have it, not just a job or a business, but a consuming passion, [Just ask my long suffering wife!]

If it's to do with racing get in touch,
